Poor Jay woke me up in the middle of the night saying he thought he had another kidney stone. He got up to go soak in the tub, after a while he felt good enough to lie down and eventually fell asleep, so we thought he had passed it. He woke up around 6 am in more pain and went for another soak in the bath tub. I felt so bad because there wasn't anything I could do to help him, so I just got the kids all ready and headed off to church. I came home to check on him between classes and he was still in pain but thought he might need to take a bath room break soon. Then I was back to church in case I was needed by one of the kids (potty break, diaper changes...the usual).
When we got home from church Jay brought me a little baggie with a surprise inside. He had passed his kidney stone!! All his other kidney stones had been so small he never even saw it.
You know how women always compare their newborns weight with the next newest mother, or how fishermen say the fish I caught was "this big"--holding up their arms as wide as they will go. Well I think Jay earned the bragging rights with his kidney stone. Everything we have read say that the stones are about the size of a grain of sand, and if they get much bigger, then they have to be surgically remove because they can't pass on their own.
We named it Jay Jr....if only we were so lucky to get another baby from all the pain he has gone through, then he might think it was worth it, as most new mothers do! They say passing a kidney stone is comparable pain to having a baby.

Congrats on your new arrival! He/she/it is soooooo cute! But seriously, OOOOOOOOWWWWWWIIIEEE!! Sorry Jay. Hope this is the last one for ya Jay!
WOW! I've had one kidney stone. And 4 babies. Pete's had 5 kidney stones, so he and I are even. (My kidney hurts just READING your story, by the way.) Pete's only passed one without medication, so that's awesome that Jay can just get in the tub and it will help. I think if that were me the water would have to be boiling in order for my mind to be taken off the pain. Maybe I'm just a wuss.
HOLY CROW!!! I just have to say OUCH! I have had 5 babies, and a kidney stone and I daresay it is worse then labor. During labor you get those little breaks, and if you are nice to the anesthesiologist a great epidural. All I got with my stone was a shot that did nothing and a nice big bill! At least ya'll still have your sense of humor. You need to put that bad boy in a scrap book!
Jay, first let me say I'm sorry for what you went thru, but if it helps at all this story made me laugh out loud for a good couple of minutes (and I really needed a good laugh). Congrats on the new family member, I think it looks like Janae. ;)
