Creative Minds

Jay and I got home from our nephew's baptism today and while we were in our closet changing our clothes, Emy walked in mumbling something while showing us her newest Lego creation. I wasn't really paying attention and then Jay said, "did you hear what she said, she said temple". She was showing us the temple that she had built out of Legos. I thought it was so cute. It is crazy how fast they learn.
Then the other kids had to follow suit and build something for us to take a picture of.

Emy's temple:

Macie's pie:

Brigder's maze:

And Paisley taking a nap:

And this is our latest attempt at a family picture:

Unfortunately Paisley is crying. This doesn't give you a good perspective on her temperament, because she really is a great baby. She only cries if she is hungry and well, she was hungry. We thought we had a some more time till we needed to feed her but unfortunately we didn't. We just hurried and did some pictures any way. The ones that she wasn't crying in some one else looked goofy, so since she is too young to voice her opinion we opted for this one being our favorite. We will have to try again...maybe on her blessing day.

What one Girl has the next Girl Wants!

Macie's hair do...

Now Emy's new hair do...

As though I had several hours of free time to spend fixing hair.

Macie Turns 4

Macie turns four on the 21st!
And just how is she spending her big day you might ask...she is under anesthesia in the good care of her dentist getting
8 cavities (8 that we know of...maybe more) fixed. So we are giving her a new smilefor her birthday, and a few gifts of course.
Well just a little bit about our big girl...
We adopted her on Jan. 31st when she was just 10 days old. Bridger was so proud to be a big brother. We let him hold her just minutes after the adoption agency brought her in to us and he wouldn't let us take her from him for almost a half and hour. He was so excited to see her. (Now he might delight in a day away from her!)
She as such a little baby, she was only 5 lbs 10 oz when we got her, but she quickly grew in to a chubby little baby...and oh so cute! She was always happy and always had a smile on her face. She was such a perfect, sweet little baby and a joy to have in our family.
She was sealed to us for time and eternity on Aug 5, 2005. It was our 5 year wedding anniversary too, so it was a very special day for all of us.
She is full of energy and is learning so quickly. At times she tests my patience, but we always end up hugging it out...eventually. She is a very determined little girl and very smart. She loves to dance.
She also enjoys going to school and riding on the bus. She loves to listen to music and sing into a spoon for her microphone and dance around the kitchen while we clean. She loves to make things "all clean and shiny" when I ask her to put things away and then she has to come show me how nice it looks (this is just a new phase and I am loving the extra help, she actually does a great job putting things away).
She is a great big sister...most of the time...Emy might disagree. When Macie gets angry (at anything or anyone) she takes it out on Emy, but maybe she is just teaching her little sis how to be tough, right? When those two girls get along they have lots of fun together wrapped up in blankets eating popcorn and watching Dora or playing in big brother's room getting into everything he wishes they wouldn't touch while he is away at school.

Macie is so sweet with her new baby sister, Paisley. She is always kissing her and rubbing her head so softly (which we were very surprised and relieved with). She loves to rub her face across Paisley's little spiky mo hawk while I feed her.

One thing Macie can't get enough of is her daddy's attention. She is always climbing on his lap and saying "tickle me and kiss me" and wanting Jay to tickle her till she can't breath and kiss her under her chin...but she will never lift her head up because she knows his whiskers will tickle her face...but yet she wants him to continue to try to talk her into letting him kiss her. It is pretty cute to watch.
We can't wait to see what another year will bring. Happy Birthday Macie Moo! We love you!

Macie's New Hair Do...So Cute!

I have been wanting to get Macie's hair done for a long time now, but I couldn't find anyone in town to do it (I didn't look very hard either), but our friends have their daughter's hair done down in Utah...but they pay $150 every time they get it done. I didn't have the extra $$ nor did we want to make a trip to Utah just to have her hair done.
Well I was on the internet the other night looking for directions on how to braid or twist or add extentions to African American hair. I found a website that sold DVD's showing how to do this. I showed it to Jay and then debated about it for a few days. I would get on the internet and watch the short little clips they had every day, and finally we decided it was worth the $59, to buy the DVD. If we didn't like them then we got a full refund...so I would only be out shipping.
Well, we got the videos last night and I watched one of them this morning while I ate my cereal. After the 10 minute video I decided to attempt it, thinking I would just practice and maybe try in a week or two after I practiced a little more each day.
Well, my practice twists turned out pretty good so I kept on going...and FIVE hours later...we ended up with this

Macie sat really well for about 2 1/2 hours and then I could only do a few twists randomly through out the rest of the day or she would get really angry and squirm around too much. I think she did great though...I was getting pretty squirmy myself. Hopefully they stay in for a while...if not, then I will just try some more. I think they look pretty darn cute, and I saved $100 by doing it myself!

Rubik's Cube...Impossible or Not?

I did it! I really did it!! I mastered the Rubik's Cube. Macie has been wanting one of these for a month or so now and so all the kids decided to each buy one last week with some of their Christmas money.
They came all nicely done in their packages and within about 3 seconds each of our kids had their cube all mixed up.
I thought I would get on the internet and see if I could find some hints of how to solve it, but then I checked the packaging and saw that they came with some instructions. I tried in the car on the way home from Toys R Us, but even the instructions seemed impossible to figure out.
Well, I would play around with one of the cubes a few times a day as I fed Paisley and I would figure out how to understand a little bit more of the instructions each time...and about 10 minutes ago I mastered it!! I always thought these things were impossible, but from start to finish I did it in about 10 minutes.

Paisley's Photo Shoot

We decided to take Paisley's pictures today and she did really well. We got several good pictures of her and we are excited how they turned out. This new camera will eventually pay for itself!
The other kids all wanted to be in every picture, but we managed to keep them on the side lines.
She is getting so big. She has already gained more than one pound. We had to take her to the doctor yesterday. We aren't sure if she has acid reflux or a touch of a stomach bug, but my guess is that it is reflux. She does really well as long as she is held or sits in her swing...so she has been sleeping in her swing the last two nights and has done great. It even helps her sleep longer between feedings which is nice for me.
